Here’s an extra card from the brayering article in issue 84..
Sport
by Maria Simms
You’ll need..
- White A6 coated cardstock
- Cream A5 card blank
- Claritystamp Sport Frame stamp set
- VersaMark inkpad
- Espresso, Butterscotch & Raisin Ranger Adirondack inkpads
- Speedball brayer
- Post-it notes
- Small circle punch
- Letraset ProMarkers
- Gold pens
- Bbrown & white baker’s twine
- Copier paper
- 3D foam pads
Step by step..
1 Cover the centre of an A6 piece of coated cardstock with a large Post-it note. Stamp the football image around the edges of this piece using VersaMark ink.
2 Ink up the brayer with Buterscotch ink as shown above, then brayer the top-right corner of the cardstock to produce a soft graduation of colour.
3 Ink the brayer with Espresso ink and repeat Step 2 to add just a touch of colour over the Butterscotch. Using Raisin ink, repeat the process on the bottom-left corner, then again with Espresso ink. Remove the Post-it note.
4 Using Expresso ink, stamp the ‘Sport’ text offcentre to the right, stamp again onto copier paper and cut the ‘O’ out to use as an aperture mask.
5 Place a small circular mask in the ‘O’ on the artwork through the aperture mask, brayer the top right of the ‘O’ with Butterscotch and Espresso ink and the bottom left with Raisin and Espresso to match the border. Remove the circular mask and stamp the footballer overlapping the white moon.
6 Mask off the corners and borders of the card and, using Espresso ink, stamp a pile of footballs in the bottom left as shown, masking as you go. Stamp two balls in the top right, then shade all the balls with a grey ProMarker.
7 Add a fine squiggly gold line separating the centre of the art and the border, then edge the panel with a gold chisel-tip pen.
8 Stamp three footballs onto white card, colour in using a ProMarker and cut out. Use a large embossing tool to shape them a little.
9 Wrap baker’s twine around the card front to form four lines, then add the brayered panel using 3D foam pads and the footballs to finish.
